Days of Our Lives Recap | Week of Mar. 27

Days of Our Lives this last week was as lukewarm as the one before it, giving us just enough drama to tide us over to another week. Since the start of the year, I was worried about the state of the show and how it’s heading into its 50th anniversary but since then we’ve got new head writers, big casting returns and the announcement that good, heartfelt story worthy of the anniversary will begin in the summer and carry on through 2016. So basically we just have to survive through more of Melanie Jonas’ incessant snooping, ceramic elephants and young gay men turning into their mothers. Just five more months… But let’s check out what happened in Salem the week of March 27th!

General Hospital Recap | Week of Mar. 27

General Hospital was still very much building up to the climax of one of its long-running storylines, while others simply recapped a lot of things we already knew and remembered. It’s far too apparent that this last week was just to prop up the big reveal for the week to follow as it gave us just enough to keep the viewers teased but not enough to satisfy us. There were some stand outs among the doldrums of this last week in Port Charles, from the introduction to a new (technically) legacy character and the double release of havoc personified! Let’s check out what happened this last week on General Hospital!

General Hospital Recap | Week of Mar 20

General Hospital had a bit of a slow week this last week, which sometimes is warranted for a show with nearly seventy different characters all with crisscrossing storylines that come at you at a hundred miles an hour. Port Charles deserves a bit of a break. Most of the week was focused around building tensions between characters not so much on the actual moving along of many of the storylines which is important for development, but wasn’t really that interesting to me. Let’s check out a few of Port Charles’ highlights from last week!

Days of Our Lives Recap | Week of Mar 20

Days of Our Lives this past week delivered some long-awaited developments in the storylines that had a lot of viewers curious. Some of these plot developments worked well while others only proceeded to give fans even more questions. All in all, it was a watchable week that propped up some of its stronger and weaker mysteries, one that was definitely bearable after a few weeks of dragging stories. Let’s check out what happened last time in Salem!

General Hospital Recap | Week of Mar. 2

General Hospital tapped right back into that same emotional vein from last week, giving us a good amount of family drama with Ava Jerome’s memorial service as well as giving us laughter in the form of Franco and Nina Reeves’ comedic plays. These strong storylines were on the front burner this week so the week passed by smoothly, showing that there doesn’t always have to be bullets flying to keep things exciting in Port Charles. Let’s check out what went down last week!

Days of Our Lives Recap | Week of Mar. 2

Days of Our Lives this last week was once again steady! By no means was it fully captivating considering there was still too much time devoted to an elephant statue, Daniel Jonas unjustly receiving love from Nicole Walker and Jordan Ridgeway in general, but there were some standouts worthy of applause and not the fast forward button. Thankfully it’s not all bad lately as there’s been good use of veterans, old soap tropes and romance but with the first quarter of the 50th Anniversary year nearly over and with no big storylines in sight, I’m not sure how much longer we can keep optimistic. The new head writers couldn’t come to Salem, USA’s rescue any quicker! Let’s check out what went down last week there!

Days of Our Lives Recap | Week of Feb. 23

Days of Our Lives is in good shape again! Can they keep it up? We can only hope so after they had a dismal few weeks in the ratings. The stories seem to be moving again and at a clear pace. There are still really only two strong tales on the front burner now, but if they’re given enough visibility on our screens, this could turn out to be an exciting few months until the head writer changeover in the summer. There’s nothing like a gay love triangle and a naughty age-inappropriate affair to get the ball rolling again in Salem! Let’s check it out!

General Hospital Recap | Week of Feb. 23

This last week in Port Charles was generally a strong one. Recently, General Hospital has been all about loading up our screens with story after story, so much so that things sometimes get a bit convoluted. Even with a number of sometimes slow and messy stories on the front burner, there were some definite high points this week that were able to smooth out those bumps in the road. Let’s find out what happened in Port Charles last week!

Days of Our Lives Recap | Week of Feb. 9

Only a week ago I had hopes that Days of Our Lives had begun to pace their February Sweeps stories better, that we were actually working up to a nice build-up then climax. All it took was a week for those hopes to come back down to earth after being shot out of the sky by a week in Salem that was 70% of nothing! Absolutely nothing! With recent news that NBC’s sole sudser has once again fired its head writers, we can only hope something more interesting will be showing up on our screens again soon when the new writers roll in. The only downside to this recent upheaval is knowing we’ll have to suffer some months of these non-events. Here we go!

General Hospital Recap | Week of Feb. 2

This week in Port Charles, NY was talked up to be a huge one, even explosive! But in the end, I felt that a lot of the week fell extremely flat. Few have noted that this has become a deadly cycle for General Hospital, to build up to an event with excellent drama and have the actual climax not be as fulfilling. A show with as rich of a history and such a huge cast of developed characters shouldn’t be relying on plot-driven stories. There has to be more meat to these stories. Let’s get into a few of this week’s highlights.

Days of Our Lives Recap | Week of Feb. 2

Days of our Lives is showing that they’re actually going to put in some effort with their February sweeps. With a lackluster November sweeps last year, everyone was a bit apprehensive for what they had planned for this next cycle but it seems like they’re putting their big stories closer to the front burner now. We have a murder mystery, a May-December affair and a steamy gay love triangle all set to light Salem on fire when everything’s come out in the open. I really hope it lives up to this buildup but then again, you never quite know in Salem! Let’s check it out!

Days of Our Lives Recap | Week of Jan. 26

Days of our Lives is once again back to coasting through the middle ground with its storylines. This week was an okay week, giving the audience little teases with their most interesting storylines (Thersa’s stolen baby and Aiden’s mysterious background) while keeping their more uninteresting stories on the front burner. There’s a lot of potential with all of the webs that are being woven in Salem, but there’s also a lot of doubt as to whether the culmination of them all will even be riveting. Let’s look back on a more or less solid week in Salem, USA!

General Hospital Recap | Week of Jan. 26

This week in Port Charles, NY felt like a week in the real world for me. I can’t say that I was overwhelmed nor was I underwhelmed, but I was definitely whelmed. Even with a reveal that has been incubating for about a year now coming to light, I can’t say this week had me necessarily excited – which doesn’t mean it’s a necessarily bad thing either. Anyway, let’s check out what happened on last week’s General Hospital!

General Hospital Recap | Week of Jan. 19

This week in Port Charles, NY felt a lot like an old James Bond movie. From the docks to the mansions sprawled uptown, the city was entrapped in plans set by some dastardly denizens. There was a hefty helping of mind control and the triumphant return of a few good sociopaths. General Hospital had fallen back into its own stagnation of mob overload these last few weeks but hopefully the ending of this week is a picture of the wild excitement to come and without too much talk of territory and hits. Let's dig into the details!

General Hospital Recap | Week of Jan. 5

General Hospital had a sort of quiet week this past week, giving the viewers a little more backstory and foreshadowing than mob shootouts. It’s always a nice change when there’s a little more family time instead of mob family time in Port Charles anyway. Let’s check out what went down!

Days of Our Lives Recap | Week of Jan. 5

Days of our Lives had me hooked all week! There will always be bumps in the roads when it comes to stories on any soap opera, but thankfully none of them were on the front burner this week in Salem. The viewers were treated to hefty helpings of mystery, romance, intrigue and betrayal and I cannot wait to dig back in. Let’s check it out!

Days of Our Lives Recap | Week of Dec. 29

"It's never too late to start all over, Rafe."

Days of our Lives has not been amazing in a long while. Yet this week was tolerable, but only just so. They’re extremely lucky to have the two or three storylines they have at the moment pushing the show to be interesting, while extremely unlucky to still have a few dangling on the edge. Why can’t we get rid of Paige and Clyde all in one fell swoop? Thankfully, it was mostly the interesting stories that were front burner this week in Salem, USA. Let’s check it out!
